1.- Cantuña and his pact with the devil
It is said that in colonial times, an Indian named Cantuña undertook to build the atrium of the church of San Francisco. One night, before the stipulated deadline, desperate Cantuña agreed with the devil to finish the work before dawn. As payment, he would give her his soul.
2.- The Tamarind Widow
This legend comes from the story of a Manabi woman who murdered her Spanish husband. The homicide committed condemned the soul of the widow, and she was cursed and confined to wander near a tamarind tree on a hacienda in Quinta Pareja, crying eternally for the memory of her husband.
